dont get me wrong.i love my daughter-law to death an she is a very sweet girl.my son an his wife came to see me last night an they do not smoke. but my husband an i do.the frist thing she said was."man your house stinks"."smells like smoke",im thinking what the hell!.after a while she calm down an started chatting with everyone. But as soon as someone fired up a cigarette.she would cover her face up with her blouse.make remarks about the cigarette smoke an im thinking why did you even come here, if all you going to do is fuss about cigarettes smoke,"an she knows we smoke" an i dont smoke in her house,,but why do you go to someone house if you dont like cigarette smoke?has this happen to anyone an how do you handel it.this drives me crazy im still mad over her behaviour.

Oh yes I have had that experience but not with a close family member. However I had a couple of rude visitors who complained and all I said was there are chairs outside would you not prefer to sit outside. Of course if the weather is nice they say yes, so I let them go outside then close the sliding glass door, the others and I stay inside. I know that is not very nice. Some do laugh and come back in other leave and dont come back. Which is OK with me.

I've got the same problem. Unfortunately, both my son and my daughter-in-law are rabid anti-smoking nuts. My daughter-in-law has never been rude or made nasty comments about the smell of my home. In fact, she claims she can't smell smoke in my home at all. My son smells smoke anywhere and everywhere he is. I just use a lot of air freshener and air the house out on a regular basis. They usually only come over about once a week, so I just try not to smoke around them when they're here, just to keep arguments down.
