Should violence be taken against homosexuals?

I heard this discussion on the radio yesterday. I am against homosexuality but i wont go to the extreme of putting violence to them i know that alot of people are encouraging violence against them but they wont do it themselves. I dont believe that we should be violent to person because they believe in something different than what we believe in. So do you believe that violence should be shown against homosexuals?
