mylot referrals

Hey I have just decided to start trying to get some referrals, I have links on my website to mylot and I have the site in a traffic exchange program. This will probably not work however as most people do what I do and hardley even look at the sites their searching through. I just browse mylot then click the link when the 30 seconds is up on the xchange program. So what is everyone else doing to promote mylot and gain referrals?
