Putting my cat on a diet?

As you will see from the attached photo, my cat Wilby is too fat:-(( I have tried everything to put him on a diet, but with very little success. Problem is - he is one of 5 cats in my cat family, so if you try and cut down on his food, he simply helps himself to the stuff I leave out for the others...... and I do have to leave it out because two of them are outdoor cats and only come in when they're hungry - so as I'm out at work all day I need to leave some dried food down for when they choose to come in. So - any ideas? Thanks.

I have the same problem, I also have 5 cats and 2 are overweight and haven't found a solution.
The vets have a special diet food which is low in calories but is suppose to satisfy his appetite and then if he eats the dry food maybe it will total less calories. Is there anyway for you to feed him this separately before and after work? Of course, that's if he'll eat it. My cats didn't like it and refused to eat it.

Well I've tried to feed him separately, but then as soon as my back is turned, he eats the dried food left for the outdoor cats! And sometimes he has been known to walk down the road and get through my neighbour's cat flap to eat the food they leave for their two cats!!!! Thanks for your advice anyway!!

I have this same problem. Dooey is very overweight, but I have to feed my other 2 cats who are not. Like you said, he'll eat everyone's food if I don't put out plenty. In our other house I was able to closet Dooey by himself to feed the other two without him horning in, but I can't do that in this house. We've been buying light Science Diet, and I'm hoping that will help. I just leave the food out.

Thanks. Thing is I worry that him being overweight is not good for him as obesity can cause heart attacks and other illnesses.
