i like frodo the most. he was courageous enough to take the ring and go on the nearly impossible mission of destroying it.
i also like sam for his dedicated friendship towards frodo.

I think the "best" character would definitely have to be Gollum/Smeagol. He's the most complex and flesh-out and is just very compelling. My favorite character though was probably Eomer. ;)
