Have you ever gotten these calls for remortgaging 'through us'? They call every day, a couple of times a day, and just don't give up. Now, it might not be so bad if they could speak a lick of English, but, you can't understand pretty much ANYTHING they are saying anyway. I have them repeat themselves about 5 times and once I figure out who they are, I let them know this is the third call I am fielding from their office today, stop calling and lose my number. Why are these people so persistant? And how is it you don't hear about any cases where people sue them for harrassment or something? Everyone sues for something these days, why not these companies that can't let you alone?

Are you on the "no call" list? When we first moved to our new home and set up our phone we got sooo many calls, but I went online and signed up for the "no call" list, and now we pretty much only get charity solicitations (whom I tell that I don't give over the phone, but they can send me information-- they usually don't)and the occassional wrong number or someone looking for the previous residents (which is interesting, since this wasn't their phone number).

I forgot to mention that. The website is http://www.donotcall.gov. All you need is your phone number and an email address they can verify. If someone calls you while you're on this list, you can report them at that website. That's how you can wack them with the $11,000 fine.

Hello, I am the enemy.:-) I am a mortgage loan officer and I've resorted to using the phone to find customers before. I always treat telemarketers with the respect that they earn. As a telemarketer I would always apologize for interupting my prospect. Then I would quickly identify if this person could use my help or not. If they weren't interested I immediately ended the call and continued to the next. If a telemarketer doesn't attempt to show me respect, I end the call promptly. Please understand why we do this telemarketing. I may be rejected by everyone but one person that night. However, I may contact one person who really needs me. I am able to reduce total monthly payments by hundreds of dollars sometimes. That can dramatically change someone's life, sometimes it saves their home! With the competition in this industry, sometimes the phone is the only way to get new clients. It's even harder with the national banks hammering you guys with calls and either getting all the business or getting you mad as heck at people like me. Here's the BIG secret. "Please take me off your list." You can get angry and terrorize a helpless marketer. The only thing they are going to do is put you back in the rotation. If you use those words above exactly, they MUST take you off their list or face a $11,000 fine! Most marketers will be thankful that you handle the situation with respect. Hope I helped!

We have tried asking them to take us off their list, several times. The people don't speak english very well at all. I am horrible with it, can never figure out what people like that are saying. But, after I figure out they are the same people that have been calling, I do get pissed. They call several times a day! Are they even allowed to call so many times in one day? I don't see how there isn't a law against that. It's borderline harassment if you ask me!

This is why my ringer is off on my house phone...telemarketers call my house all the time and they seem to call when the kids are napping and i just choose not to take any calls from them anymore. If its someone that we know and needs to get ahold of us they call the cell phone or leave a message on the house phone and we return the call.
