I have a male boxer who is 9 months old. I have someone who wants to use him to breed his female when she comes into heat. Which is soon. But i'm concerend that Oscar is too young. What do you think? Is there an age a male should reach before he can breed?

I've heard of people breeding males as young as six months old without complications. I don't think I have heard of a successful breeding with a younger male. Shouldn't hurt him...the female is the one that needs to be at LEAST 1-1/2 to 2 years of age for safety. She could die if she isn't fully developed. Friend of mine bred a dog too young and they had to operate to keep her alive. She ended up having to be spayed to keep her alive, and I think a couple of the pups didn't make it. Good luck!

There are millions of homeless animals filling up shelters already. Unless your friend is a professional breeder (which you clearly are not) and you can both provide papers and health certificates for both dogs, you are probably not going to make much money off the puppies. Purebred dogs are very prone to birth defects from uncontrolled/undocumented breeding. Most people looking for a purebred dog will want papers proving the two parent dogs are defect-free and not closely related, even if they don't want a show-dog.
Please consider having your dog neutered so that he will not father any unwanted puppies in the future. It will also make him more even-tempered and prone to a longer life.
Thanks.
