How does best response affect my profile or earning ?

Would anybody kindly through light on best response selection? I am seeing this discussion at many places but no worthy answers are there. Thanks in advance.

You definitely get paid more if your response gets marked as the best response. I think a normal response gets paid 2 cents but a best response gets paid more - I think as much as 4 cents (but remember this is my estimate from earnings I've made in the last few weeks. I might be wrong, but I don't think I'm out by much).
So writing good responses is key to earning well on MyLot.
Also, the more responses you have marked best, the higher the "star" number after your name.
