Talking Headstones

My psyciatrist is getting concerned that I talk to everything but people, and I agree that things are getting out of hand, what started off really as a kind of joke about talking cans is now becomming a weekly obsession, hunting out the inanimate talking objects that everyday life can no longer live without.
On today's Richard & Judy show on tv in the U.K. (not that I would ever admit to watching it), there was an article about talking grave stones, where relatives attach a video player to the gravestone so that visitors to the cemetary can see a video of the deceased.
Would any of you on MyLot actually want to see one of these, or even have one for yourself, after you have departed to a better place.

What a post! Talking headstones huh. The cemetaries around here wouldn't tolerate those well, I'm afraid, they have all kinds of rules now about what kind of flowers in what kind of pots can be left on graves. Can't even leave little stones on graves anymore. They'd have quite a list of regs for the talking tombstones...no swearing, no laughing, no jokes, no complaining, keep it short & dignified, etc....I wouldn't want one. I think we should all just be buried in the ground and go back to the earth. You know "dust to dust" kinda thing with no mechanicals.

No, I don't think this is something I would want to do. Eventually, the tape would fall apart (just like me) and it would be just one more thing that needed maintenance. Besides, can you imagine how scared you would be if grandma all of a sudden started talking to you? I mean, gee! Oh, and no doubt there would be valdalism. :::snicker::: I could see the humor in switching tapes and when you expected to see grandpa sitting in his easy chair, you might be met with something a little more X-rated. Oooh, la la.

I saw these on tv a while ago. I thought they were strange. I know I wouldn't want one. But in a way some of them seemed kind of cool. I guess It would be kind of cool to see like of your grandparents when you were all grown and things. I suppose if my father had one it would be cool. You know the more I think about it the better it sounds..lol Who knows one day your grave stone may be a hologram of you..lol

Hell no, that is just too creepy, I think your pursuit for finding talking inainmate objects is hilarious though, good luck with that...is there a commercial in the U.K. about doing your taxes with a box? supposedly if you use a tax program on your computer out of a box, the box can't tell you what to do if there is a problem...lol

No ! That justs sounds kind of morbid in some way to me . Like people who take pictures of the person after they have passed away . I think this would be really creepy and would make me want to visit the graveyard even less then I do now .

I just saw those talking headstones on a US talk show. I can't believe they've come up with something like this. I sure wouldn't want one! It's one thing to have the picture, or an engraved likeness, but I think it's a little overboard to have the talking feature. I mean, what are they going to say? Hi...I'm gone now? I think it'd be harder on the survivors, somehow, to have this kind of reminder of their loved ones. In my opinion it's borderline gruesome in a way.
I can't see the video idea either. I think it's just a way to get you to spend more money for add-ons. Like the talking stone, I just don't see where it would be anything but a waste of money. After all, like any other recorded item (tape, disk, etc) it's only going to be used x amount of times before it simply doesn't work any more.

It's such a freaky thing to imagine, technology has really hit the fan, lol.I don't care for the idea, graves are for reflection, not things shoved in your face , like video and sound.I think it would also raise havoc with an elevated vandalism ratio.

Wow, I've never heard of these video headstones .. that's really weird. I definitely wouldn't want a video on my, or my relatives headstones, I just think it's a bit too freaky .. and engraved picture or something is fine, but to actually see the person on the video moving, and living life, it'd be too weird for me!

I don't know about that. I don't think I'd want to have a video of myself on my headstone of myself. Maybe a photograph and a voice recording might be ok, but the I think a video might be a bit too hard for the people left behind. At least, I wouldn't want to see a video of my loved one if I were visiting their gravesite.

Personally, I would make a video, so that my future ancestors could see what kind of person I was like. Just to let them know, ya know? I really think that's a neat idea.
