The major effect that I've seen is the major increase in temperatures worldwide. Since the 1970's temperatures are definitely increasing. Global warming is reality. CO2 and other gases are gathering in the stratosphere and trapping heat and letting more harmful UV rays in through the ozone. I think we are doing some things to reduce it now. Things aren't as bad as they could be. We banned CFCs and other pollutants. It's important though for us to work toward alternative fuels and cleaner sources of energy.

If you pay attention to the news you can't miss the effect on the world. I our own lives it is harder to see but it is there in the form of more rain or less, longer summers and less of a cold season and many other thing we may not notice. We can help to reduce it by trying to effect the actions of our governments and by being proactive in our own lives rather than reactive. One small example, I leave the two tons of steel in the garage and ride my bicycle on any trips five kilometres or less. The activist is not the person who says the river is dirty, he is the one who cleans it up.

Well said. Each person, if we do our bit can do more than all the governments put together.
How to motivate every single one of us to do our bit.
I commit to reducing our family's fuel consumption by 20% this year.
