Bankruptcy ..Consequences

If you file for bankruptcy , does that affect your tax return.I know it affects the credit history , but would like to know if it affetcs tax return , do I have to file it if canceled as income.
Also if you know of any program that helps with filling without the craazy high $$$ fees
