A protruding (herniated) disc is when soft inner core of the disc in your spinal column sticks out of the disc. This bulge then puts pressure on the nerve of the spine. A herniated disc is sometimes referred to as a slipped disk, ruptured disk, bulging disc, protruding disc, or a pinched nerve.
After determining how much the discs are affecting your every day life and the state of the discs the doctor will be able to recommend the best course of treatment or surgery.
