Have you ever been on a diet? Which one? Did it work? How much weight did you lose and did you keep it off?
I have never really been on a diet. Before my wedding, my husband and I tried decreasing the amount of carbs we ate and tried to eat healthy, but besides that I haven't dieted.
I was wondering what diets are the most popular and what really works?

The only diet I've ever had success with was Weight Watchers. I lost 35 pound and have kept off about 25 for the past four years. I find it to be the least difficult in terms of giving up foods you like. If you cut yourself off from all things good (and evil), you are setting yourself up for failure. WW is great because you just use their points calculator to figure out the point value of the foods you want to eat. You then have to decide if you're willing to spend the points on that food or if you'll be satisfied with something lower in points. You are assigned a certain number of points based on your weight--somewhere in the 20s usually.
Not all diets work for everyone. You may have to experiment with different ones to find what works for you. I can't go low carb--it makes me miserable. But it works great for my mom. So when you find what works, stick with it. I don't count my points all the time. I go off for a while and when I feel myself creeping back up on the scale, I go back on and lose the weight slowly but safely. It took me about six months to lose 35 pounds.

I wanted to take some inches off my thighs and my tummy but didn't have time to work out before so I did the "After 6" program. It just means not eating anything after 6 pm. But if I feel a little hungry, I drink pineapple juice.

We've never truly dieted either. Though we should really try something. Its the eating healthy part that can be a stinker. Its hard to figure out good filling foods that are actually healthly.
I'll try and come back to see what you have for responds in here to help us too!

I agree with you, finding the ingredients and the time to have healthy, nutritious meals every day is difficult. The sample pack was great, and there's a 100% guarantee- so all you have to lose is the weight!

PS- And the best part is that I still get to eat the foods I enjoy, now my body is just able to metabolize them more efficiently! Good luck!

Hubby and I are going to Weight Watchers tomorrow night.
I have done weight watchers in the past and it is wonderful and teaches you how to watch what you eat and you eat regular food.
I did not keep the weight off.
But I have had a miscarriage, home daycare and a 2 year old daughter since that time.
It has been about 8 years since I joined the first time.
I did follow the weight watcher program the entire time I was pregnant with my now 2yr old daughter. I didn't go to meetings or join I just used the knowledge I learned years ago.
I only gained 15 pounds during my entire pregnancy in 2004 . It was all because I watched my diet closing and walked every day till the very end when I couldn't anymore (she was sitting on my siatic nerve in my leg and my leg would go out the last couple of weeks).

Honey, I am the QUEEN of dieting. I used to be close to 100 lbs overweight. I lost the weight six years ago and have kept it off. What I did to lose weight was eating breakfast (which I never did) and eating six small meals per day. I also exercised for an hour three times a week. That helped me shed the weight and I have kept it off ever since.

Just look at my picture, which really is me, and you'll agree the last thing I need to do is lose weight, but I eat on the Zone diet, as suggested by my therapist to deal with my depression, and my energy level is MUCH improved.

I went on a grape diet and it worked wonders, but it was only a short term one and I dropped those love handles.
My clothes were way too big for me.
I did enjoy it but its not something one would want to do long term though.
I've also tried the micro diet, that sucked.
I lost weight but put it back on just as fast when I came off. it.

The only diet that's ever worked for me is the one I'm on now- all natural, doctor formulated and recommended, totally safe and 100% guaranteed! In the first 10 days I lost 10 lbs, and I've kept it off! The best part is, I feel AMAZING!!! I have so much more energy now, I never realized how tired I was! You should definitely check out this website and sign up for the free sample pack like I did. You'll love it, and you have nothing to lose. . . except pounds! Good luck!

I've tried so many diets....and realized restricting foods makes you fatter :( You eat more of the other stuff and end up gaining.
Once I stopped eating meat for my health - and started Yoga - the weight just melted off.
What works is consistency....staying in a routine with exercise and meditation....and eating :)

Personally, the best diet is the cliche diet. Eat well, and work hard.
If you balance your food with fruits, veggies, and other semi-natural products, you should be fine if you mow the lawn, walk the dog, and have to go up 15 flights of stairs each day. Sometimes finding time for an extra walk really is worth it, even if you feel bad. I know at times I've felt miserably sick, and I still went for a walk, and afterwards felt much, much better about myself.

I haven't really been on a diet either, but when I worked nights I started drinking slimfast because I wanted something healthy. It just seemed really weird eating in the middle of the night. SInce than I always keep slimfast on hand, so if I am feeling hungry but not sure what I want to eat, I'll drink a slimfast. i have gained a few pounds, so I started walking and dancing. Hopefully the pounds will come off quickly. I just need to keep moving.

I did the Low- Carb diet-- but, I didn't eat the fatty foods of it, I did the spinach salads at Subway and also the low carb wraps from subway and arby's and then I would eat a lot of meat that I made on the George Foreman. So, I thought it was very healthy & I lost 34 pounds doing this right before I got pregnant with my first baby & then after I had her I went back down to that weight right away. For me, if I did a diet again, I would do this-- because this worked for me. I also did Weight Watchers and that also helped me take off prob' 15 pounds of it-- which I think this is a very healthy way to go about dieting.

I have. And realistically, I don't think anything works unless you adopt it as an actual life style choice. And the one I found that worked for me was Bill Philips Body for Life. Yeah, you're going to spend some time working out, but it'll do wonders for your body and health.

I have been using Weight Watchers Online. And it does actually work if you follow it. The site is great with lots of easy to follow recipes. You can track your weight loss. Also it has a day by day diary of what you eat. I think that is very important. When you actually see what you eat it does make a big difference. I have lost about 15 pounds.

I always do my own diet as I find if I do it my way then I loose weight.
My diet is just cutting back on the food, having a smaller plate so I don't eat so much, and not eating the bad fatty foods like chips etc. I make sure that there is always lots of fruit and veg in the house ot eat inbetween meals and drink lots of water.
I make sure I do some excercise as well and I find that I loose weight better that way rather than follow a proper diet plan.
