I think it depends on the age and who is paying for it. I can see a kid having a cell phone if they are the one paying for it. I can also see a kid who is involved in a lot of after school events or church events without their parents having one. But if parents are paying for it and the kid just wants to talk to their friends, no way. It's too expensive.

in a way, i don't think it's good as they can get it stealed off them and bad things could happen but in a way it's good because it would help if they were in an emergency or some sort of dangerous situation. it all really depends on how much they know about them and to use and not abuse them too. i wasn't allowed a mobile phone until i was 16, that's when i got my first one! :O)

I got my first cell phone when I was fourteen. My little brother got HIS first cell phone when he was thirteen...and the little girl across the street that I used to babysit before I went to school got her's when she was NINE.
I think that's a liiiiittle young...twelve or thirteen is probably a good age for kids to get a phone.

I'ts a handy tool for kids, if you show them how. One particular use could be if you were shopping and got separated you could easily find them by calling their phone.
