So many kids so little time.

I was wondering if the moms out there feel the same way I do about kids. I run a daycare and I have four children of my own. On one hand I always feel like I am neglecting my kids because I feel they are never happy. They are always wanting something or needing something. On the other hand I feel I give them to much and if they want that toy they need to earn it. How do I make the best of both worlds? I don't want to just give but I don't want to be a mean mom???? Help

I'm not a mom but I am the oldest of 14 kids and I have a daycare myself. It's hard for parents to provide their children with exactly what they want them to have. just know that when your kids get older they may take the "damned if you do damned if you don't" approach to your efforts in parenting.meaning that kids will always see a defect in their parents, we still love you even though we complain. and a complaining child is not necc. a bad thing.just try your best.
saying that, what is the exact issue between you and your kids that makes you feel like you are being a "mean mom?"
