why does movies such as LORD OF THE RINGS AND ERAGON make it to the top? what are we as people looking for right now?

Well, I think a lot of the success of The Lord of the Rings is because of Tolkien and this particular book's history and importance. There was already a huge following for about half a century; that has to count for something. I think another big reason is that this movies are just so visually stunning. But you probably are right there it does have something to do with escapism as well, but hasn't that been true since the days of The Wizard of Oz?

you're right in your point about the book itself. tolkien has long been waiting for his time to be acknowldge and appreciated. he deserve it. he is a great writer and linguist to say the least. his trilogy is the best. would you agree with me if i say he is a great believer of the bible. a "christian" in true sense. that's why the trilogy has unlying story of the "salvation". well, unfortunately i can't discuss that into writing here. you've got to read and reread the book. thank you for your comment.
