i have a goal to attain a Level 3 for the Japanese language Proficiency Test this year. One major challenge for in order to achieve this is how to effectively learn to read and write the japanese kanji's. at present, i have an ebook purchased about "Read Japanese" which contains basic kanji's. one difficulty that i've encountered is that i found it easier to memorize the meaning of the charater rather than its equivalent japanese pronounciation. won't anybody mind to share their tips and ideas?

Try flash cards. I did flash cards for my son to learn languages. I am bilingual at home. I help him to connect two language with same meaning using flash cards method. It's simple , just write those words in cards. A set of Kanji and a sets of hiragana. Flash Kanji and Hiragana pronunciation one after another. Flash it fast. Do it three times a day. Saperate the session at least half an hour each. Don't try to memorise them, just flash and read in silence. After a week, test yourself. You won't be surprise you can remember all, if not most of the kanji and it's prounciation. You can do it in computer too... using power point software. Have a nice day trying.

thanks for the advise. i thought writing is the best method, hitting two birds at the same time, however i memorize more the meaning and lose sight of the pronounciation. i'll try your suggestion on my computer. domo arigatou gozaimashita.
