The most essential qualification to become the President is to become the Vice President First.

Good observation. Kindly note the following qualification to become the POI.
1. Must be a citizen of India.
2. Must be without any legal charge
I remember only two.

An indian with 35 years or more age.he should be qualified as a member of loksabha and should not hold any office of profit under the government.certain office holders,however are permitted to stand as presidential candidates these are:current president,current vice president,governer of any state,minister of union or state

u r saying tat,he should be qualified as a member of lokshaba...but our current president Dr.A.P.J.Abdul kalam s not at all qualified as a lokshaba member...then how he became the president of our country...?
