The market in which shares are issued and traded either through exchanges or over-the-counter markets like commodities. Also known as the equity market, it is one of the most vital areas of a market economy as it provides companies with access to capital and investors with a slice of ownership in the company and the potential of gains based on the company's future performance. The same was shared as dividends. This is very vast subject, and can't give in a para or a page.

A stock market is a market for the trading of company stock, and derivatives of same; both of these are securities listed on a stock exchange as well as those only traded privately. The term 'the stock market' is a concept for the mechanism that enables the trading of company stocks (collective shares), other securities, and derivatives. a stock market is a place where u can earn money as well u hv the chance to lose money also..... in other words u can say gambling which is considered legal.... u can buy any stock and sell it at a profit wen the stock value increases.... stock value varies depending on whether the stock company is running on profit.... one tip is that wen the stock company is about to make some transactions with companies or starts a new program, its value is bound to rise...so u r sure to make money...... so its just like a game of business / monopoly which we play....... there we buy with fake money here we buy with real......
so think twice and act accordingly wen u buy a share......
