How to sell at eBay?

I want to sell some things on private way at eBay. I have so many questions. Do anybody have any expierences with selling per PayPal at eBay? How long your descriptions are? I saw in the selling route you can descript many text and photos? But do i need so much? cause i have to pay for every photo and text. Could you give some of your own experiences? Thank you.
