7 Ways to Impress Your Boss If you are labouring under the misapprehension that hard work on its own is the fastest route to promotion you'd be mistaken. There are certain things you can do to help you stand out from the crowd. If you can manage to impress your boss (without being seen as the office creep at the same time) then you may progress faster while maintaining the respect of your co-workers. So if you want to get ahead and attract your boss’ attention for all the right reasons, then read on. 1. Look the part Dressing appropriately might seem obvious but if you don’t look professional then others, including your bosses, may assume that you do not act professional. 2. Be enthusiastic If you show a positive attitude this will reflect well and show that you are a hard worker. It also gives you an opportunity to work and have some fun at the same time. 3. Know the needs of your boss If you know what is high on you boss’s list priorities then you will be able to structure how you work accordingly. Find out what matters to him or her and make that important to you too. 4. Use your initiative If you spot a problem or think something could be done in a more efficient way then suggest these solutions to your boss. This will show your potential as a manager for example and also means less work for your boss, which is always going to make them happy. 5. Ask questions If you are seen to be curious and ask unexpected questions you will be thought of as a motivated worker as well as somebody who is interested in the company. Also, certain questions require new and fresh ideas which are never a bad thing. 6. Communicate like your boss If you have noticed that your boss always tends to email when they need to convey information then you should also use this when you need to talk them. On the other hand, if they always seem to use the phone then they are probably going to prefer information from you in the same way. 7. Take part in training Take any training opportunities that are offered to you. This will show your willingness to learn and to progress. If you hear of any relevant courses taking place, suggest them to your boss.

Bosses have landed their position through a lot of hardwork and dedication so more or less they have encountered a lot of people through the years. If you are only doing this to impress him when he is around then he will see you through and forget about your plans. But if you are pretty sincere about being a model employee then I might give you some tips. First thing first is never to be late. Make it a point that you come on time to the office and in meetings. This also applies to accomplishing tasks. Next, you establish a good relationship among your colleagues. Be there for them when they need you as they will surely help you out when you'll need help yourself. Lastly, be morally upright even if it means you have to differ from your boss. A pay raise is not worth compromising your principles with so just be right no matter what.
