Do you believe in plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons?

I'm not talking having repairs done after a horrible accident or fire or any type of disfiguring trauma. I'm talking people who spend thousands upon thousands to keep "looking better". Do you think it says something very sad about the person themself? That they can never be happy with who they are and that they are perhaps missing something so much deeper?Do you think it's acceptable to have a few things done if you have the money, but not go crazy with it? Or do you think we should accept ourselves for what God has created as and accept our changes as we age, with grace? Just curious.

I have to admit that when I was younger, I always thought that I would never change myself no matter what. I'm not sure where this feeling came from, since i am certainly not what one would consider conventionally 'beautiful'. I just thought that any form of changing oneself wasn't necessary. Even tanning I don't really 'get'.. I never have seen the point of wanting to burn one's skin to look a bit better, which is good since I'm so fair skinned that I can't really tan anyway. *laugh* But the older I get, the more I wish that I could change at least a few little things about myself. Not thousands of dollars worth, no. But just a few things. I think that I would feel more confident if I were able to do this, and that would help me to feel better in life, which would help in so many ways. But I may never do it, because I may never have the money or the guts to go have such procedures done.

I don't really have a problem with cosmetic surgery, but Michael Jackson being the extreme case, no amount of cosmetic surgery is going to fix the relationship you have with yourself. Before you start cutting and pasting, maybe you should go inward and make sure that your ok with the person you are. I wouldn't change my looks, but I would consider in say twenty years time, to iron out some wrinkles. Just to look serene, not youthful!

i have nothing against people who have it done. i wouldn't mind getting a few things myself. but, i cannot afford it. i do know that you cant stop aging. And sooner or later it will be known that you are OLD. just to be happy in your own body is a hard thing to do, but we all have things we want to change. its just not worth the time, money, and pain to me.

People are crazy and do crazy things to alter their bodies. Look at how many do it to try to stay young looking. It isn't natural for eyes to not close when you blink! Why alter what God has given us? Wrinkles are lines of wisdom.

N't at all. I am n't in favour of plastic surgery just for increasing beauty in old age or to remove wrinkle from our skin. Its really wastage of time and is sillyness. I think that we must avoid from plastic surgery for increasing our beauty but only use it in case of any accident. I dislike plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons.

Depends, some people take it way too far and get addicted to it. I wouldn't mind haveing some here or there, but I am too much of a weenie when it comes to pain. Seen a liposuction on TV and NO WAY would I let someone do that to me! Guess I have to live with what I have~or don't have! lol

It's just but natural for human beings to continually crave for improvement on physical appearance because we always want to look so we could feel good about ourselves. For me,it's okay to undergo minor cosmetic surgery if you think it will help you gain more confidence and will get you ahead professionally.Whatever your reason is,if you think it'll make you happy and a better person then go ahead and do it.

i like the show The Swan because it's inspiring to see how people's life started to change when they got into the program. however i'm not really agreeing with their concept of needing plastic surgery to overcome a past trauma. well, there had been cases when i'd have to agree, that plastic surgery was the answer, like this girl who had burns in her face coz their house caught fire and stuff. but for the others it's just a matter of attitude. i still believe that beauty is a matter of disposition. a girl can look really pretty if she's confident and if she's sure of who she is. it's just sad that beauty nowadays is confined within a surgeon's idea and criteria of beauty.

If one could afford it I think they have the right to do what they feel needs to be done. If it will help them emotionally, physically, in any way, they should. I would prefer that they don't change anything though to totally change their looks but only for enhancement like sagging body parts... slimming and all that. Heck, I would slim down if I could afford it.

For the most part I see nothing wrong with plastic surgery, but Michael Jackson should have left his face alone a long time ago!

I myself wouldnt have anything done. First of all I dont like pain and would not freely bring it on. I might consider it if I was in a horrible accidnet and something was disfigured, then I probably would have something done. And it cost so much money you have to rich to have this done.

no its not feasible enough to keep wasting money on your looks....ya little bit is fine but too much of everything is bad.....accept how you are and you cant be perfect ,once this settles in your being, acceptance becomes easier!

plastic surgeries are for people who are insecure of themselves and are envious of other people they see and perceive as beautiful.inner beauty matters most. being beautiful should go more than skin-deep.

i hate people who go for plastic surgery. for that matter i hate those who get unduly body piercings, tatoos and colour their hair...
i feel the only reason they do that is cos they are but ugly and can't digest that

I think in time all plastic surgery tends took look fake and you have to keep having it done to keep it looking all right then after time you just look like Micheal J or that one chick that does the red carpet interviews (?she has a duaghter named Melissa). I think if less people woried about how iothers looked and were less superficial it wouls be a better word. We need to learn to acept ourselfs and others the way that we are.

Yes. it builds confidence. And when we're surrounded with confident people, don't we feel confident too?
