How do you keep your kids busy so you can get a couple of things done?

My boys are 3 and 5 and I have a hard time getting things done because they want constant attention all the time. I love to garden outside, but the boys are always asking for something like snacks or something to drink or for me to watch them doing something. I am a stay at home mom and I give them plenty of attention otherwise and I don't want to just stick them in front of the tv.
Any suggestions to keep them busy? Oh by the way, they have really short attention spans!

I should try the computer more for my 5 year old because I know he likes playing on it!

this may be why i still cant acomplish anything! my kids are grown, but i think they have made me grow into this person that also cant finish things, or can barely do anything for myself without feeling guilty. like i should be doing something for someone else. i wish back then that i would have just told them "now don't bother me, i have to get this done"... but then they are only little once, and how can you just ignore those adorable sweet, lovable children?

I always start chores and never finish them. I'll start in the bedroom to put away clothes, then when I take some of the kids clothes to their room, I start cleaning in their room instead of finishing in my bedroom. I keep getting sidetracked all the time and forget what I was doing in the first place!

Do they have any playground stuff outside like a sandbox, swing, slide ect. maybe this will help some when you garden. My girls are 3 and 5 they love to play dress up. I started seeing more dress up things for boys like cowboys,Indians, ninjas, pirates, at the dollar stores. Club houses are always fun or help them build a fort with blankets and chairs. My girls are 3 and 5. The older one will help out and get the little one water or a juice box out of the fridge things like that. I also have a snack drawer with healthy snacks. Good luck :)

Thank you for the suggestions. We do have a swing set outside, but they constantly ask me to push them on it. My 5 yr old refuses to learn how to swing himself. I always feel so guilty if I say no or I don't want to play with them all the time!
