Are you afraid of Death?

Are you afraid of death? Most of the people i know are afraid of it and i don't understand why. No one knows what happens with his soul after he dies. Maybe because he imagines that is all dark and is like a deep boring sleep with no dreams, with no one to be besides him. Could it be that being afraid of death is tha same o being afraid of loneliness?
