It is a good option nowadays for persons who want to learn something (because maybe they could not in their passed) or they need to because their situation requires it. With this kind of learning, elearning, you can save time, organize better your time and also save money, as you don't have to spend money to get there, online courses also are cheaper than presential classes (the traditional ones where you have to assist)...That's right that self-teachers have it easier to learn by this way, but I think that everybody who really wants to or needs to study something can get it done. Actually, we are not used to self learning and elearning still is a new concept for many people. But I think, this kind of learning will be normal within several years and everybody can learn to study by this way.

I'm a big fan of online courses! It's not for everyone, though. As Leeza said, it's more for those who are self-taught. It will definitely save on gas for most people, and also on time commuting to-and-from. However, there are some downsides. Because your teachers aren't always as involved as teachers in a classroom, it is easy to forget to do assignments. Also, if you're looking to socialize and network, as you would in a regular classroom, you might want to look elsewhere. I'd suggest giving one a try to see if you like it....then figuring out where to go from there...GOOD LUCK!

I believe it is a good development. It will facilitate easy dissemination of knowledge from any part of the world and it will permit students to enjoy the various lectures from the comfort of thier living rooms.

I have taken classes both on campus and online. Online is great if you are a self learner for the most part. Reading on your own and doing the work on your own. In my case I could get in touch with a teacher by virtual classroom or e-mail. Which means waiting for a responds when the teacher is online as well. I loved not having to waste driving time. For me the closest classroom is a 40 minute drive one way. Plus it saved on gas and no driving during bad weather. It is also great for those of us who must work for a living but still want to get an education.
The plus on campus is really classroom discussion tends to stick in your mind better than reading. At least for me.

It is a good thing because it gives lot of flexiblilty to someone with busy lifestyle.
However the classroom is always open. It's not like classroom where one has to work for the next class then it is done until next week's class.
Sometimes points are granted for online discussions. Someone with more time on internet would post more comments. One has to always keep ahead of someelse before they post the comments you want to post.Discission boards are open 24/7 so you are alawys working towards getting that extra points.
Also for online course, one has to be self motivated and self starter. Even though there is lot of interaction due to todays technology still many items has to be done without any help.
