...and more importantly why? What did that president achieve that ranks him above all others?

Abraham Lincoln was the best. He sternly resisted all odds against the unity of the country during the civil war period and he firmly moved to achive his goal of ending slavery. There were many great presidents right from George Washington. But Lincoln stands unique.
Who is the worst president? Who could be that other than the present GW Bush. He has spoilt the image of the country to a great extent. He inflicted several wars upon mankind. He resorted upon lies to legalize his illegal action of occupying another country. He ignored several of the UN decisions, he broke several conditions of the Genev convention in the case of prisoners of war. By instinct he is an autocrat.
