LOL I guess not. About 20 years ago from what I understand Burberry used to be cool (not that I've ever owned any personally)...

I remember that first joke (the filing cabinet one) from when I was a school (early 90s) - back then it was about ravers (along with What do call a raver in a bank? Safe)
This was pre Chav, the same sort of people often hanging arround outide shops in tracksuits outside McDonalds were slagged off as townies.

Chavs are an underclass in Britain. Have you seen the show "Little Britain"? It's Chav Britain writ large. Jade Goody (of Celebrity Big Brother fame) is also a chav.

I guess each country has it's own group of people they poke fun of. I have never heard of a chav until today.
In America a lot of jokes are aimed at people on welfare. I guess they could be considered our chavs.
