To post stories or not to post stories: theft is the question.

I have been engaged in an ongoing but healthy debate with my boyfriend about whether or not it is wise to post stories and poems on writing sites with the intent to receive critiques and even a couple pats on the back. It is my boyfriend's opinion that one shouldn't do it for two reasons: A) critiques can be too harsh if the one critiquing doesn't know who you are or what you're about, emotionally or even spiritually, and B)Theft of story ideas by other writers. My thought is, why not post stories and get feedback, despite the risk of theft? I suppose I am not afraid of someone stealing my work because my ideas are a bit out there and trippy, and secondly, since I personally believe that everything comes from the same Creative Source that we, as humans, all come from, if someone takes my idea and makes money off of it, hey, congratulations...someone prospered and made their life better, financially. Sure, it could have been me, but that's the beauty of creativity. I can publish a different story. The one that got used by someone else is still in my mind and soul. They can't take that aspect away from me. After all, money is just another aspect of Divine Energy anyway. As a writer and creative person, inspiration is all around. There will be no lack of stories to write as long as there is life and breath on this planet and stars to look at. Anyone else care to comment? Blessings, Kat ^.^

It is not wise to post stories and poems you have originally conceived and then expose them to thieves. I forgot how you call these thieves. But, you can deal with your works as you would because they are your own. I hope you will do whatever will serve your ends best.
