There has been a lot of discussion about driving while impaired from alcohol. I am wondering about other activities that interfere with driving safely. Do you put on your make-up or eat or talk on the phone while driving? I admit that I occasionally talk on the phone while driving and sometimes I pass food or snacks to my kids in the car. What about you..do you multitask while driving?

I multitask all the time, I'm so busy sometimes I don't have time to just stop inbetween places I'm trying to get so I have to do everything in the car. One time I went from school to eat then straight to work. I had to eat in the car, fix my hair and makeup, and change in the car lol, yeah definitly not safe but I got the job done. I'm trying to limit that kind of thing.

People are so busy today and getting those types of things done in the car is just a matter of convenience. I remember my college days I was commuting to school and then going to work after class. I did a lot of grooming and eating my car!!

Yes, I am a total multi tasker. With kids in the back--they are always asking for something. I eat and use my phone while driving. I have seen worse--someone reading papers or books while driving. I had a friend who has ADD and she swears she drives better while talking on the phone. I do too. I am actually more attentive. Looking ahead for upcoming road hazards and behind me for other issues.
I drive worse while not on the phone!! LOL

That is one way of looking at things!!! That mutitasking(such as talking on the phone) can make you more attentive.
I like it!!! Stay safe!!

No, I don't, I drive for 10 minutes 4 times a day in the home-office journey, and I enjoy driving on the low traffic roads passing through the villages. I used to talk on the phone sometimes for some weeks in the past but I realized my attention to the road was little.

In an episode of Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel, they determined that driving while talking on a cell phone is just as dangerous as DUI. I'm 16, and I don't get my license for about 3 weeks, but I never have talked on the phone while driving, and I don't plan on ever doing it.

I have not seen that episode of Mythbusters but I hope to catch it some time. They are right, it is just as dangerous, I know I have done it on occasion and it puts you at risk on the road. Sadly, I see people doing this all the time. It is great to start out your driving experience being safe and learning from others' mistakes.
