Indian culture - Guys peircing ears!

Both men and women are piercing just about everything these days in the U.S. also. It is actually unusual to see a young man without pierced ears anymore, and the teenagers and very young adults are going crazy with piercing ears, eyebrows, lips, noses, tongues... I think that pierced ears are OK, even on a guy, but too many piercings seems bizarre to me. Of course I'm the "older generation", so what does my opinion count? The important thing is that the piercings are being done by legitimate people who use sterile needles and take measures to prevent complications.
