Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura. This rare but deadly disorder took my father in laws life in a matter of 48 hours. It is happening more and more. It is a rare blood disorder and if misdiagnosed it will kill you or a loved one. I have made it a mission to let everybody know about it and maybe prevent one death out there. My father in law was a healthy man and he caught this and died. He thought he only had the flu so did his doctor. It was to late to save him but it might not be to late for somebody out there. Here is the website please pass it on to as many people as possible. A lot of us will pass on lots of jokes but pass up the chance to possibly help somebody. The site will tell you all about the symptoms and how it works. Thank you for reading this. www.emedicine.com/emerg/topic579.htm

Hi limosonia1. Actually, I was diagnosed with this back in 1998 and I have been in remission nearly 9 years.(I was diagnosed in April and I was in the hospital until May). I went to the hospital with pain in my side and just the feeling of not feeling right. When I got there, they drew blood and found that my platelet count was only 30k(should be at least 150k). I was in that hospital for a week and kept going downhill, then was transferred to another hospital in Philadelphia where I received steroids, chemotherapy, plasmapheresis, and blood transfusions. I'm so sorry about your father in law, but I am quite glad that you have become an advocate for awareness. Sharon

I am glad that you made it ok and are doing well. Sorry to hear about the relapse. It's just scary that some doctors don't even think about it and it costs somebody thier life. My father in law was healthy other wise. Just want to do what i can to help it's hard losing a loved one.
