fried rice is when you re-cook a rice,
a left-over rice to be exact.
we cook it by putting flavor in it like garlic, fried egg, bacon, hotdog and other flavors.
and it is so yummy.
we love it here in the philippines.

It is re-cooked rice BUT FRIED in either oil (peanut, safflower or sesame) or saki and soy, or sugar, or lots of other vegetables but pan-fried in a very hot skillet.
Here in the US, it is just fried rice, yummy !

In Indonesia, we called it Nasi Goreng. Usually you add scrambled egg with fresh sliced tomato and cucumbers, with fried onion at the top of the fried rice. YUMMY! For those who love hot food also can add slices of red chilli.

Hi there, in my country, Malaysia we call fried rice as Nasi Goreng. Nasi means rice, goreng means fried. Fried rice is a popular food in my place and we could enjoy it at anytime. In my dialect we usually call fried rice, sa buoi. We are used to fry the leftover rice deliciously with various types of ingredients like shrimps, stirred eggs, green pea, carrot cubes, garlics, chili and other spices.
