Yes I have, we have always seen snakes slithering here and there but the absolute worst time was when we had a out house when i was 12 and i had to go in the middle of the night, so i woke up my mom and she walked me out there and i just got my pants down we we heard a noise and my mom flashed the light around the out house and low and behold a copperhead was coiled in the corner let me tell you i don't think my feet hit the ground once until i hit the door way of the house. needless to say i downright refused to go again in the night lol.

Lol..hopefully not a snapping turtle. I love turtles me and my niece always go walking after the rain and we find a few of them. We bring them home and paint them pretty colors and thn we let them back loose. It is fun we use non toxic paints.

Even if it is non toxic paint it can keep the shell from growing and eventually kill the turtle before it's normal lifespan.

When I said non-toxic paint I meant water colors paint that is easily washed away when a turtle gets into water or even wet grass. Thanks for the response I appreciate it. Thanks

I always heard there were timber rattlers in Tennessee while I was living there, but I was fortunate enough to never run into one. I did know several people who were bitten by brown recluse spiders, and that's about as nasty as I'd ever want to have to see someone tangle with.

I went and helped my mom move from New Mexico back last September let me tell you we encountered many snakes of all kinds.Seemed like every 10 foot was a snake and it was illegal to kill them. My sister almost got bit several times so i am really glad that they have moved back to Ky.. My hubby says we have a few timber rattlers around here to not as many here as in some places though.. thanks for the response I appreciate it.. thanks!

I was told by a trainer to roll up newspaper and tape both end an middle and use that to spank my puppy with just one or two taps with the words no and bad. It did wonders for my puppy which is a mini dalmation/pitt bull mix and she was always trying to bite. But she is a sweet 2 year old now loves everyone.

Yes, I grew up in the hills of West Virginia. There were copperhead dens all over the cow and horse pasture. I have seen black bears and foxes while picking poke greens and digging ginsang.
One time I was pulling weeds in the garden and I touched a snake. I screamed and ran like crazy. My husband laughing all the while. He said he never saw anyone run that fast and never move. I was so scared that I never seemed to get my feet and legs working till I could acturally run for real but I thought I was!

No, but where I grew up there were rattle snakes and black widow spiders, but I never saw either. I think the worst thing I encountered were skinks and raccoons. The really dangerous stuff stayed out of the way.

Yes, I have. Even though I have basically lived in the city most of my life, there have been occasions. I was in my backyard one time when I got the feeling something was behind me. I turned around and a coyote was walking up to me. It looked at me, and then kept walking. We had woods way behind our house so I guess it was just out for a jaunt. Of course, I also saw a fox, but it didn't bother me. When I was 4, I lifted a rock and underneath was a copperhead snake. My dad ripped me away so fast I hardly knew what was happening.

We killed a snake behind our house the other day. It is not safe really to let kids out to play even if you are watching them because they hide under things. Thanks for the response I appreciate it..

Oh my, I don't think I could handle having alligators in my yard, I'd be afraid to let the kids out to play. When I was in New Mexico I was afraid to let my little sister out to play because they were so many things out there to hurt her snakes, poisonous lizards, Spiders, and wild animals, coyotes, bob cats, wolves,etc... So if she was out, an adult was there also keeping watch but it doen't help sometimes when you have spiders the size of your hand dropping out of trees on you and snakes slithering almost unheard right up on you.. Scaring so glad my parents moved back to Ky. Yeah we still have most these htings here just in a more controllable place.

I've been in the entertainment industry and have been a master of ceremonies for many years. I once had to host a party at a resort at a totally out of the way place, near a wildlife sanctuary. The resort that I was due to visit had already sustained an attack by a herd of elephants in the past week and the levels of concern were obviously high. As I was heading to the resort in their closed jeep, the driver cut off the engine and brought the vehicle to a complete stop. When I looked at him quizzically, he just pointed his finger - at a leopard that was crossing the road, just about ten feet away. It was a magnificent specimen, and was appearing totally oblivious to our presence. My camera was tucked away in my bag and before I could fish it out, the animal had slunk away into the woods! That was an amazing experience.

I bet that was an experience. I grew up on a farm even milked cows. My dad even roped a few wild mares to breed to the palomino. It was awesome. Some men came in and broke the horses and after awhile me and my brother could ride them. First time I was ever on the horse she slowing walked from one side of the fenched in area to the other but on her way back she decied to run fast I feel off bit my tongue and had bruises that lasted a week on my rump but my dad made me get back on and then it was okay he said the horse was testing me. didn't have any problems after that.

I have had many close encounters with dangerous animals and the most dangerous animal is the Homosapien. I used to catch and sell rattlesnakes and even would "milk" them for their venom. There were a few close calls when I was active hunting then but the time that was the closest was when I was working on a farm "socking" the wheat". That is by putting up bundles of the straw left over from taking off the grain head into piles. One time I was picking up a "bundle and I put my arm under the bundle to lift it up and hen I did i came out with not one but two rattle snakes. I calmly caught them and put them in burlap bags to take to the hospital with me. (everybody else was running around like chickens with their heads cut off) Another close encounter was just last year when a 350 to 400 pound black bear wandered through our yard. I knew where it was headed so I took the car and the camera down to where I could hid until it got close. When it was abut 10 foot away I jumped out and took pictures of it but it was too dark and the flash did not go off so I did not get the picture to come out. As soon as it saw me it turned around and ran the other way.

The ability to work under what other people think is dangerous probably helped me to go through Special Forces training (Green Beret) in the army. A snake is just like a lizard with out legs in fact there are a few legless lizards in the world including the glass or grass snake. The big difference between legless lizards and snakes is that legless lizards do not have forked tongues. You need to remember that you should just walk away from a snake so that it is not needlessly killed since they are very helpful to humans. To many people have told lies abut snakes and a lot of people believe these lies. And since snakes cannot talk they cannot defend them selves against those lies. Learn about them and you will realize that they are really q beautiful type of animal, I am not suggesting that you go out and pick up snakes (unless you want to and know what yo are doing) but knowledge is power and let it help you to keep out Earth as healthy as possible.

There is a wild raccoon that visits our porch nightly. I started leaving food out for him. Sometimes we see him in the day time. It is like having a wild animal for a pet. Ha, ha.

The place that I camp at has alot of wildlife. I used to sit up late with my campfire and watch the animals. Sunks would be roaming from campsite to campsite, deer would be walking buy. I was watching this small red fox wandering around with a skunk. I thought it was the strangest thing. All of a sudden something brushed my leg. I looked down and out from between my feet waddled a very large and stinky skunk. I thought I was going to have a heart attack as my mind began to race. I just sat there very still and he continued on his way. ...phew

I guess it would be good to always have a can of tomatoe juice on hand if you ever got sprayed atleast that is always what I have heard. My mom hit a skunk once when my sister in law was in labor talk about stinky we pulled up to the emergency doors and let me tell you it was godawful having to smell it all the way there and then on the way home. But I am glad I never came that close to a skunk my heart would probably give out..lol I have heard if they have their scent pouches removed that they are almost like big kittens.

I have never had a deadly encounter with an animal as far as I am concerned, but have dug around for tennis balls in a copperhead's den and come into very close contact with snakes and spiders that are venomous. I am more afraid of most people than animals, to be honest. People are too sneaky.
