I was looking online last night for photos of the White Tiger..well, I definitely got more than I bargained for.
I found a site that informed me of the cruelty that led up to these animals, and I have a new outlook on them. I no longer see them as majestic, and beautiful, but now beautiful and abused.
Did you know that the only way to produce a white tiger is through severe inbreeding of brother to sister, mother to son, father to daughter? This inbreeding process can lead to early death, still births, immune deficiency, scoliosis of the spine (deformed spine), cleft palates, mental imparements, and badly crossed eyes that bulge out from their skulls.
Quote from www.bigcatrescue.org
"Consider this: only 1 in 4 tiger cubs from a white tiger bred to an orange tiger carrying the white gene, are born white, and 80% of those die from birth defects associated with the inbreeding necessary to cause a white coat."
That's only 1 in 4!!! We want to see these animals thinking that they are nature's way, we are told that they are endangered species and that they must capture them and breed them to keep this animal alive for future generations! This is all a crock. What these zoos and so called animal sanctuaries are doing is cruel, inhumane, whatever you want to call it, but regardless of the name you put to this inbreeding, it must be stopped.
So many animals suffer just to get that 1 perfect white tiger, and then we shove them into circuses and cages so that we can admire them.
Have you ever heard of this before, and if so, how did you feel about it all? And for those of you that are reading this now for the first time, how are you feeling? What do you all think should be done?
Please visit www.bigcatrescue.com to get more info on this topic, and also to find out if you can help in any way.
Thank you all so much for even taking the time to read this.

I my opionion God made two of every animal and if by chance it was a white tiger(which I doubt ) they should leave things like they are they are not GOD and I for one do agree that the way these zoos and so forth are doing is beyond my belief and I do not think that they should be doing any of this imbreeding

I agree 100%. Fellow man seems to enjoy playing God way too much. The reason that you would never see white tigers out in the wild is that they would never survive. With their brilliant white coats, the cubs would be attacked and killed off, but on the chance that one did survive and grow to an adult, how would it hunt? It's prey would see it coming a mile away.

This is not true for all of the cases though happens in rare cases.
The scarcity is the main problem in this matter.
Hence this is taken as something better than nothing attitude.

I have always adored white tigers. In fact I have a collection of their pictures. I have also read about inbreeding of white tigers and until now I'm still shocked. Just can't think of a good idea to share. However, I hope that they make something justifiable to generate more white tigers for I can't afford to see them extinct. If it is possible that all white tigers be collected together so there would be no ethical issues on breeding them.

I love tigers, but i'd rather just look at pictures of them if it is that hard to breed them why would they do that to the poor tigers! tigers never did anyhting to us. I think this is TOTALLY CRUEL and where is peta ?! why dont they step in and take these tigers and prosicute the people that are doing this to the tigers?!
