Can't Malaysia and Singapore just get along??

This discussion is perhaps for the people from those countries. Or the neighboring countries. Or perhaps just about anyone in the world too. :) I wonder why these two countries CAN NEVER get along. It's been decades, guys. Do you care to finally raise the white flags? After all, many Singaporeans live in Malaysia, many Malaysians work in Singapore. Many Singaporeans shop in Malaysia, many Malaysians marry the Singaporeans. So, why there has to be "a border" in between? Is it because of the history?
