How do you handle bloopers

I just went through a very humiliating experience...I sent a letter to the manager of an organization and his name was totally wrong...what makes it terrible was the person is famous one...it was really my mistake!!! Right now, I am trying to convince myself that it is done with..his secretary called me to correct my mistake and I told her to throw the letter and will fax her a new one... It was really an honest mistake...have you experienced similar story? please share it to me!!! I need encouragement right now!
