blog layout

Please help me. I'm really new when it comes to blogging and I want to customize my site. I want to make a good layout but i really have no idea how to make it. could you guys share some tips? What programs do I need? What I only have here is adobe photoshop.

I have checked it out and I didn't see anything that could help me there... there's nothing about making layouts there or maybe I'm just so lazy to search the site. thanks anyways.
