Have you ever tried playing GOLF?

I really haven't played it myself. But I used to always be with my former boss when he plays golf. At first, I thought golf was a ridiculous game. You have a ball and a club. You hit the ball with the club and the ball flies meters away. You pickup your bag (I know they have a name for that bag but it escapes me at the moment) and walk towards the ball. You set the ball up again, hit it again, follow, until the ball reaches the hole. But after I learn about the mechanics of the game and some techniques (thanks to my boss), I actually found it interesting. =)
Is there anyone here who have tried playing golf before? Is it hard?

I tried in once in Chile of all places and I ended up with really sore hands and a grass field full of unsightly holes! The sport looks so nice on TV, but it's something else when you try it yourself! It is a good idea in theory though, all that walking! Tiger Woods sure looks elegant when he plays!

Ahaha good thing THAT golf course you played on didn't run out of business. =) Maybe you should be a golfcourse landscaper! Just kidding. =) The sport looks nice on TV, but it looks and feels better if you are the one playing. =)

The video game is SO MUCH different from the real thing. You'll only get aching fingers in the video game, in the real thing, you get sore bodies.. LOL =)

I play golf every now and then. Haven't played it in the last few years. It is its own unique game. Takes a lot of patients and isn't as easy as it looks.
You have to hit the ball off the club a certain way for the ball to fly meters.
It really is challenging.

Yeah. Golf really is a technical sport. It agree in what you said that it isn't an easy sport. You gotta have skills to play this sport properly. =)

I see. I haven't really seen a left-handed golfer yet. But I think it's still possible to play it. =) That's the beauty of golf. You can enjoy nature, exercise and have fun all at the same time. =)

I find golf really a challenging game. Not only do you have to be n top physical condition, but also know the techniques and skills to play it. I thought at first that all you need to play golf was to be able to hit the ball everytime you swing. But boy, am I SOOOO wrong. =)

Yeah. Most people who play golf are those of the upperclass. Golf is an expensive sport. Not all has enough money to play golf on a regular basis. That's also one of the reasons while most people don't play the real thing. They (I'd say, WE) just settle to golf games on the PC or a console.

I haven't tried mini-golf yet. I have tried golf once and I'd say I'd have to agree to what you said about it being interesting. =) It takes more effort than it looks. =)

i play golf and i love it....its been 3 years now since i started....the initial mindset abt golf is the same that u have...that its too damn boring....then u start playing it but u just cant hit the ball....then u feel like throwing away the club but refrain from doing it cause its too expensive..but once you start hitting that ball boy theres no game like golf......

Ahaha yeah I agree. It is just so boring when you are the one watching those golfers play their game. But once you step up the plate, it really changes from a boring hit-the-ball game to a really difficult and technical sport. =) Go for a hole-in-one! An eagle is also acceptable.. Am I setting very high standards here? LOL

Ahaha yeah. My first golf game was a PC game. Microsoft Golf. I enjoyed it much. When I did had the chance to play real golf, it is just so difficult for me. That's the difference between the game and the real thing.. =/

Yeah! Golf would be boring if you play it alone (well, except maybe if you are playing alone for the sake of improving your golf skills. PRACTICING). Any sport is more enjoybale when you play with someone. =)

Real golf is VERY MUCH different from any golf-simulator. =) It is fun to play 'digital golf', but it is better if it is the real thing. =) Just my opinion. =) Thanks for the response!

I did try golf but I was much younger then and did not understand it very well. I could not hit the ball very far as the farthest that I hit the ball was a couple of feet. LOL I would keep swinging and missing or barely hit the ball. LOL I stick to miniature golf. :-) Nobody ever taught me the proper form when hitting the ball as that probably would have helped.

Ahaha really? Well maybe because you were still a kid then and you used a standard golfclub. That's tough! =) I never really understood about that 'proper form' in golf. I just want to hit the ball and that's it. Luck then comes into play! LOL

I remember the 1st time i played golf, it was just for fun really, when i stand there on the fairway hitting my first ball, i was really confident that time saying to myself i will hit this ball. Then i made a great swing, like one of those pro-golfers do in a tournament, my stand is just but perfect, i said this would probably a hole in one. Then i release my swing and as i about to hit the golf ball then, "vvoooommm" the club i was holding slip from my two hands and it flew far away, far away than the golf ball that i just hit with. It was a nightmare, i was so so embarassed that day. I was really embarassed at the same time laughing so hard. hahahahaha i said to myself, no more golf for me i would rather shot some hoops, spike a ball, kick a goal than throw a club into the air... at the end of the day i said to myself, at least i hit the golf ball... hehehehehe

LOL! That really is quite amusing. I wonder how strong you are? Hurling such heavy equipment some meters ahead.. =) It's fortunate that THAT golfclub didn't hit anyone, or you'll be sending someone to rest.. in a stretcher. LOL

I just can't hit the ball, it's too difficult for me. But I love watching the players on the PGA. Tiger Woods is amazing. I think golf requires a huge amount of skill and concentration and how the body must be in perfect coordination.

Yeah. Golf really is as exhausting as playing a ball game. It just looks so 'light' when you are the one watching. But when you are the one playing, it is entirely different. I tried it once and I felt like I went to the gym the other day. =/

I haven't actually tried minigolf yet (and I have no plans whatsoever in the future). Golf isn't that bad. (Only if I could hit that ball EVERYTIME) LOL

yes ive tried golf .its not an easy game unless you are one of the gifted few that have a natural ability for the game.it's a game you either get the bug for or you walk away and never bother again.a lot of the battle is understanding why the ball does what it does when you strike it (if you strike it at all)only then can you really begin to understand the game and realise just how good the pro's are.it's also not a cheap game to play, although with many municipal courses cropping up it is becoming increaingly popular.i'd advise anybody to give golf a go,it's a very humbling game.

I agree.. It isn't some sport that anyone can easily master. =) It requires a lot of techincal and analytical skills for one to be a good golfer. =) Concentration is important too. =)
