Interesting thought, Charles.
Of course I was going to go into the genetic mutations and deformities of the offspring, but I see that you excluded that in a comment. So children of 2 blood relatives is absolutely out of the question because of genetics.
I guess I have never thought about this issue on a purely emotional level. Incest has always been wrong because of the issue of children. In a broad and practical sense, I don't think that I could come up with a solid reason why 2 people who are in love shouldn't be together, regardless of blood lines. I'm not sure if there is any Biblical reference to this, but I would bet that the Bible states that it is wrong. I just can't make myself agree with you on this one. I think that it is morally and socially wrong, although when you take children out of the equation I can't back that up with a solid reason. It just is!

I do agree with you in the sense, i am not comfy with it either. It just that when both of them are in love and present their case ,I cant find another reason to describe why i feel it is wrong other than it is 'socially wrong'.
To look at it from a neutral yet wider picture, is it wrong to love? Probably not. Yet when we bring in such scenarios we know how we feel about it. So can we blame people if they say, so and so do not belong together? Take homosexuality for instance. Totally different issue i understand, but it comes down to love. Is it wrong? I got dumbfounded on this for I can offer no real concrete reason why it is wrong.
Errr.. does that make sense? LOL

You are so right when it is thought about simply in terms of love. If children are left out of the equation and there was no chance of bringing children into the world who may suffer genetic malfunctions, then you are right. There is nothing wrong with loving someone, no matter who they are. It is the same thing that we say about homosexuality every single day; there is nothing wrong about it. It is love, plain and simple. Who are we to judge if 2 people find each other and love each other? This truly is a matter of the societal norms, as you say. Although I believe this on an intellectual level, I still feel that "something" is wrong with it, but if all can say is "it is just wrong", then maybe it needs to be explored further. You always give food for thought.
