Not only is it a great show, but its also based on a series of books written by a real forensic detective. Alot of the cases are based on the same cases the author wrote about. Does anyone know who the author is?

That would be Kathy Reichs. She is a anthropologist and novelist. She wrote the books bones is based on.

The author is Kathy Reichs as someone else posted. She has her own web site: http://www.kathyreichs.com/welcome.htm So you should be able to find the book titles she has written and what order to read them in.

Her books are wonderful. I searched high and low to find all of them. She has like seven out in the series now. I get started with one of her books and cannot put it down. So be prepared to sit and read for awhile. It is different from the TV show, but a good different.

I read the books long before the series came out, which is why I was so excited to see the show once it came out - am glad it turned out so good!
It's actually kind of funny, as the few times they've referenced the books that the Tempe Brennan character writes in the show? Her fictional character in her books is named 'Kathy Reichs'. So they named the character's character after the person who created her in the first place. Kinda cute!
