Poopy diapers !!WARNING!! TMI!

My 14 month old was having trouble pooping today. We have never had this problem before. She would strain and strain, then I thought she was done so I would change her. But there would be nothing there, just a bit still trying to come out. Eventually she started screaming from the pain I think. She was screaming and was just out of it. It was so scary for me. I didn't know what was wrong. Finally after forever of this, I put her on her back and did the bicycle legs with her. She stopped crying right way, it took about 5 minutes of that and it finally came out. This was so bad for her that she literally fell asleep the moment she pooped. Poor baby, she was exhausted! I am just wondering what other natural methods you all use in a situation like this? In case this doesn't work next time.
