I babysit for an 18 month old who has a special skill in rejecting each and every piece of fruit or vegetable I put in front of here. The child needs more fiber! I sneak in some carrot shavings under melted cheese, but otherwise haven't been able to get any in her. Have you managed to trick your picky eater into eating fruits and veggies?

My kids always loved smoothies at that age---yogurt and fresh or frozen fruits blended with a little orange juice. You could probably get away with putting blending up a carrot into the smoothie. Fruits are a better bet than veggies due to the sweetness. I know it's hokey, but some people can get their kids to eat broccoli by referring to it as little trees. Celery is good with peanut butter and raisins on it--ants on a log. But I don't know if you can give peanut butter to an 18-month old. It's up to the mom I guess.
Good luck! It's a phase she will grow out of. My picky eater wouldn't touch most fruits or veggies until she was about 3. Then she helped daddy plant peas, carrots, green beans and broccoli in our garden and she wanted to try what she planted. She finally started eating apples at age 4.

I had to put it in a special bowl at that age like a cartoon bowl so when it was all gone they could see the character. If my son saw a baby food jar the battle began also cut out sippy cups or bottle more before and after meals the child will be more apt to eat cause he is hungry.
