What do you think about this antibullying video that had parents upset?

In my school district the elementary and middle schools are trying to teach tolerance. They are trying to reduce bullying in the schools and on the buses. A third grade class was shown a video about not bullying other kids. In the video, there were all types of families including biracial families, single parent families, extended families, and gay and lesbian families. Parents were not told about the content of the video. When the parents found out they hit the roof. They said you are forcing your morals on us. We do not approve of gay and homosexual people but we would not bully them. Would you be upset if your child saw the video? I would be fine with it. I have a cousin who is a lesbian and has adopted two boys with her partner. Let's face reality, there are many types of families.

Works for me. There are lots of different kinds of families in the community. Those kids should be able to see themselves represented, it will make the video more meaningful for them.
I've never udnerstood why some supposed adults mange to be threatened by things that have nothing to do with them.

I couldn't agree with you more. It's a shame that adults feel threatened by the movie. I suppose these parents don't approve of Spongebob or Ernie and Bert on Sesame Street. I've heard people say that Ernie and Bert are gay asnd so is Spongebob. Kids today are still being bullied and killing the kids who are bullying them. I can remember being bullied at school and being so terrified, I didn't go to school for an entire week.

I think they should not be presenting such things as if they are normal. It sets a very bad example. I would be angry if I saw such things being paraded in front of my children.

I can respect your opinion. The idea was for kids not to bully eachother.
