yup, i usually say, "I'm sorry it took you so long to get through. How may I be of service to you, Ma'am/Sir?" if s/he turns grouchy around me, I will hang up on him/her. She will learn to hold on to his/her rope. hehehe. I don't really know much about call centers. I worked for a couple of months. lol

When I was still working as a Customer Service Associate for AIG Credit Cards back in 2001, our opening spiel was:
"AIG Call Center. This is Ches. How may I help you?"

Well , I don't work at a call center so I just say "hallo" when I answer the phone.
I remember that most of the time it is the name of the company comes first , then comes the phrase "speaking (the name of who officer who speaks) , how can I help you ?"
Most of the time , it is the automatic answering machine that does all the work lol.
It asks for the details , it even gives some advices and only after some minutes , I get a human answer like above.
