What do you do when you get lonely or depressed?

Getting depressed only makes me paranoid. Paranoia leads to thinking and more thinking leads to worser depression. It's a vicious cycle--so to unwind, I distract myself by hanging out with my wacky friends, shopping, shopping with my wacky friends, watching lots of gorgeous movies, eating, watching and eating, sleeping and more sleeping..not necessarily in that order, but I am sure you get the point.
But sometimes I turn to my sketch pad and release all the tension building up inside and doodle out my frustrations. It's a creative hobby and it helps ease my pain somewhat. ^_^

haha. Hear! Hear! Most writers started to write out of depression... and I guess no other therapy could be better than that for a writer. (It's a shame that I haven't even included it here... haha!)

Well, they have me on medication, but that doesn't always help. So when the really bad spells hit I try making my jewelry or dream catchers. Anything to keep my hands busy and my mind from running off in tangents. Depression is the worst for me I tend to get to the point that I can spend days on the couch without moving if I don't get myself out of it. I've been on that couch as much as 4 days and it's rough trying to get up and move once your in that place.

I agree that being idle for sometime only tolerates depression but there were those moments that you seemed more comfortable with doing nothing at all... But it's true, this doesn't work all the time. :)

i think ther isn't a real terapy,but the best think is to dedicate the most of day to something capable to get forget of your conditon of depressure and lolliness.this is my opinion. and obiouvsely try to speak with someone

i keep thinking about my childhood days when i used to stay with my parents. i remember my schooldays and my school friends and wonder where they are right now. i plan out my future.

when im lonley or feeling down, i blast my music out loud and start singing or buy myself something, it makes me feel alot happier after! :O)

if i get lonely i would call up my friends meet them at the mall and chat with them, window shopping and then get drunk! go back home the next morning and see my boyfriend at the door yelling at me! LOL!

I pretty much do the same than you... and it seem to work.
Walking gets your blood pumping and clear your head... it makes me think more clearly after a while... and sometimes I come up with new ideas about how to solve my problem.
Watching movies is good too as I stop thinking about the problem and relax while concentrating on the movie.
Loneliness is not something I experience a lot... but coming on the Internet and posting on a site like myLot can relieve loneliness I would think. If you had some friends on a normal forum... it would be even better. But there are not too many friendly forums around. Which is why sites like myLot are starting to appear.
