I have a MySpace account, and I love it because many of my old friends, even from grade school, have found me; but I can't stand these people making this a popularity contest. I only keep people I know personally, work with, knew from school, relatives or are friends of realitives. Occasionally a band here and there. Since when did this turn into high school where the one with the most friends wins?

I had a problem with this girl I went to high school with. She added me and when I commented on her page about how she was doing, I didn't receive a response. Mind you, she was logged on periodically and we were never really close in high school. That pisses me off to the max.

MySpace was originally created for artists to market themselves. It of course, has turned into something else entirely. My boyfriend is the same as you, he will only have friends that he knows personally. It drives him kinda crazy that I have so many friends, and many are people I will never meet face to face. But I'm an author, and a life coach. I use MySpace to market my books, and to network with people. My whole purpose for using MySpace is to reach people I could not otherwise meet. I'm not trying to win any popularity contest, but I do want to touch as many lives as I possibly can.

I hear that! I have a lot of friends on myspace, but I know them all in real life, or I have known them for a long time on the net... or they are bands that I really like and I like to keep updated on their bulletins and blogs.

The myspace trains are partly due to the ability to sell accounts. You can get about 50$ for an account with approximately 5k or 10k friends on it!
