It could be because of the electricity. That is how Benjamin Franklin discovered that there was electrcity in the air, he flew a kite with a key on the end of it and the electricity ran down the wire and shocked him. It took another scientist to discover that it is did not happen only in lightening storms, but we do know that when the air is dry, for some people touching a metal object like a door knob will give them a shock.

as what i have read(science in everday living by: william vergara) that wire attracts electricity up high in the sky...moist air have a positive and negative composition that will generates current...and you will be electrecuted if your using wire in a kite..
