After I graduated from college and when I start working I think I start to gain weight. What get me irritated is when somebody approach me negatively on how do I look like. I knew I gain weight but the approach is so sarcastic. What is your initial reaction when somebody approach you that you are getting FAT!

haha i was slim too way back college but same with your case, i gained weight too when i started working. At first, i really dont believe them when they told me that im getting fat until i can no longer wear some of my pants hehe. Dont get annoyed when someone is telling you about the weight. Its just that we have the money to buy foods hehehe. Try working out, just dont mind them. my friends are also teasing me and even tagging me as batista or vin diesel hahha but i dot care, just ride on them..wait til i get my body back ehhe

After I stopped working at hard physical labor jobs and started teaching computer courses I put on 60 pounds and was a jolly looking fellow, a lot like the Pillsbury Do Boy. I have a friend that used to poke me in the belly and giggle like the Pillsbury DoBoy. I wanted to slap him most of the time. I lost the sixty pounds and he has slowly started to look more like I did. But I don't poke him in the belly. Maybe I should though. :)

I agree that it's a rude thing to do. Some people don't have the nerve to say that you're fat but they'll make their point by asking if you're pregnant. Even if I think that someone is pregnant, I will NEVER say anything unless they do, just for this reason. People are very sensitive about their appearance, and it is rude to say anything about someone's weight. Anyone who is at all overweight is very much aware of it himself and does not need anyone else to call their attention to it. I have told people this in the past; they need to know that what they say is hurtful.

Individuals who have weight problem are really sensitive in terms of what others might say about them, but the mere fact that they approach sarcastically it add more injury to the pain, thanks lauriefnp!

In my case if somebody tell me that I'm fat I'm not affected because I know I'm fat. I want to be thin again but its really hard specially if you don't have decipline in eating foods.

After having kids, I gained a lot. Family and friends joked me about it, I just laugh with them and reply that even though I'm fat, I'm still beautiful. I wasn't annoyed with them. Because I knew that I was fat with my own doing. It was my own decision to do nothing about it, till I'm ready. So I pigged out to my heart's content. When the time came when walking always is a struggle, my breathing became hard, that's when I decided to lose the weight. So now their reaction is positive, and that's what I keep to heart.

I do not like people telling me I am fat. I know I am fat and I am not going to do anything about it until I am ready. My kids are always telling me to lose weight. They say if I don't I am going to have a heart attack and I won't be here to see my granddaughter grow up. My son says some nasty things about it to me but I have discussed it with my husband and the next time he calls me a name because I am fat he is out the door. He is 19. I find the more people bug you about being fat the less it you want to work on the problem.

We indeed need time and motivation to get it started, and they don't need to keep us telling all over again that we are fat, because we are already. Cheers to us linda!

It does'nt bother me at all. I accept the fact that I am obese type 2 and when people would kid me about it I would tell them that I am pregnant (I'm a guy), and we just laugh it off. I know it's different for you ladies, and what works for me will not work for you (they might believe that you are indeed pregnant lol), but if you believe in yourself and look in the mirror everyday and tell yourself "i am Beautiful" then those comments won't have any effect at all.

Thats so wrong- I wish people would look on the inside and not just superficially. I mean you dont see people going around asking bald men-OMG you lost your hair!Ya know? Many dont think of peoples feelings when asking! And I wont call myself fat, its called healthy with curves-what man wants a skeleton anyway?( in the words of my hubby) hang in there girl!

I am sorry to hear this. People should get to know you before they just judge you on appearance alone. If it is your friends and family doing this I feel very bad for you -- they should be your support system and no being negative towards you. Often when people are treated like this it makes them depressed and they will actually gain weight instead on loosing it due to being depressed. Best of luck and keep your head high.

It doesn't really worry me maribel. I'm not very fat although I am overweight. As I teach Thai students, almost all of whom are tiny, or at least aren't overweight, I use my fat stomach to teach how adverbs modify adjectives. I ask the students, "Is my stomach, pretty fat, fairly fat, or very fat?" It's a fun way for them to learn.

Thanks hellangelus! Welcome to myLot! Maybe they should find the right word on how to approach a certain individual with weight problem rather than sarcastically giving unsolicited opinion that is not needed!
