hi..... I guess you can say I am the new kid on the block!!!!! I was wondering if any body knew where I could find information or studies on what is best for children who's parents have separated....1 week 1 week or 1 week-end on two or full time. But I need solid information for a solid answer for what is best for my 2 girls that are 3 and 6 years old. thank you
and a great hello to all of you out there.

Ideally the non-custodial parent should have as much time and involvement in the childrens lives as possible. When I got divorced,I left the visitation flexible.

i would imagine that the best place to find out custody information and rights of both parents would be your lcal child support agency. you can explain to them that you dont want to go through the courts, but u want to know the rights of both parents. me and my ex left everything out of court, even child support. we agreed on out own terms. in the state of wisconsin, i dont know if its for tax reasons or what, but the courts automaticly jump in to a certain extent. they told us that the mom has primary placement but we have joint custody. they also said that she can not stop me from seeing him or taking him for a while as long as i give her reasonable notice. thats as far as the courts got involved... but me and her are very cool with eachother. when i want him i get him, usually 3 or 4 days a week, 5 this week... some weeks i cant take him, but her and i are still friends... my sister in law is also pregnant... my brother is in iraq, and she is going to leave him. so i called the child support agency to find out his rights, and they were a huge help. hope this helps. good luck!

I think it depends on the Father. My ex just harrasses my kids and has Saturday visitations. He doesn't come all the time though.
My Dad took my sister and I faithfully every weekend of our life and it worked out great. So if you are a good dad like mine than every weekend would be key.
