Black lights

why is a black light purple? i've never understood the point of black lights being purple. why dont they just call it a purple light? it would make more sense right? let me know what you think. THANKS

I think it is black, it is the light inside of the shade that makes it look a purplish color. THANKS!

Yeah I noticed that. Its not black at all. Maybe they cannot make it black for some reason.
